Mexico ? Ja Mexico

In Nederland en Duitsland wordt deze behandeling wel voor andere ziektes toegepast maar niet voor MS. Onze eigen Minister van Volksgezondheid wil, op zijn vroegst in 2024, deze behandeling t.b.v. MS op de kaart gaan zetten. Voor mij is dit waarschijnlijk te laat! De ziekte wacht daar niet op.

Concreet had ik de keuze uit Rusland, India, Israël en Mexico, en uiteindelijk door de vele goede ervaringen van voorgangers – Wereldwijd gingen meer dan 1.500 MS-patiënten mij voor op diverse locaties – heb ik gekozen voor Clinica Ruiz in Mexico.

HSCT in Mexico

The Clinica Ruiz is a medical facility in Mexico that offers Stem Cell Treatment to MS sufferers.

The clinic has been practising HSCT since 1993. They have completed more than 600 treatments for a variety of conditions, including MS. The Clinica Ruiz is a modern clinic in Puebla, Mexico. The clinic accepts patients from around the world who can meet their inclusion criteria.

​ Inclusion criteria

The criteria for inclusion on the Stem Cell Treatment programme can be summarised as:

  • Patients with MS having a relapsing-remitting course, even though other forms could also qualify.
  • Patients must have a EDSS score of 6 or below.
  • Patients with an EDSS score between 6 and 7 will be accepted provided a capable carer accompanies them.
  • Patients must provide a recent central nervous system MRI study (less than three months old).
  • Patients have to be able to travel to and remain in Mexico during a 28 day period, accompanied by a caregiver.

When patients meet the inclusion criteria they can be added to the waiting list for treatment. When openings become available patients will be contacted with proposed dates for their treatment.
